NERC holds safety, environment seminar for GenCos, TCN, DisCos in Abuja

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has held a health safety and environment (HSE), seminar for managers from Generation Companies (GenCos), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and Distribution Companies of Nigeria (DisCos) in Abuja.

The Workshop which was to boost their safety during operations, is aimed at reducing accident rates in their workplace.

The three-day bi-annual NESI, HSE Managers’ meeting was themed: “Repositioning NESI for Accident-free Operations: A Shared Responsibility”.

Dr Abu Kadiri, Head of Technical Regulation Division at NERC, during the opening session urged participants to embrace honest, solution-driven discussions.

According to him, “If we have recorded success, it will be for all of us; and if we failed, it is for us too”.

The Key highlights of the event include, review of significant incident records and safety compliance status, evaluation of HSE budget implementation, strategies for accident prevention and reduction. Others are the Legal oversight in accident investigation and compliance.

The event has over 50 HSE and Performance Managers, alongside Chief Technical Officers from 12 DisCos, 28 GenCos, TCN, and NERC participated in the workshop.
