Early Tuesday morning, firefighters in Kwara State, prevented what could have been a devastating blaze at Ebunlomo Hotel and Resort in Osin area, Ilorin.

The fire, which broke out around 5:07 a.m., affected the hotel’s bar and store sections but spared the 23 guest rooms given the rapid response of the state fire service.
In a statement made available to newsmen, PFO Hassan Adekunle, Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, said the crew “launched a coordinated attack on the blaze immediately upon arrival, successfully containing the fire and safeguarding lives and properties.”
Preliminary investigations indicate that a power surge triggered the fire.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, urged hotel operators and the public to adopt preventive measures, noting, “Buildings should be equipped with surge protectors, functional circuit breakers, and routine electrical maintenance. Early detection and proper electrical safety practices are crucial in preventing fires.”
The service reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state, calling on residents to remain vigilant and proactive in fire prevention.
