The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Momodu Ozigi Deedat, last week, received members of Magongo Development Association (MDA), who had come to appeal for the reinstatement of Chief Sam Bola Ojo as Olumagongo.
The dethroned Olumagongo of Magongo, HRH Sam Bola Ojo, was removed about two years.
Speaking for the Association, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpelemoh stated that the purpose of their visit was to appeal to the State Government for the reinstatement of their deposed royal father, HRH, Sam Bola Ojo as Olumagongo of Magongo.
The MDA had tendered unreserved apology on behalf of the deposed monarch for whatever offence he committed and assured that such would be avoided in future.
In his response, the Commissioner revealed that government is not happy when there’s disunity and acrimony in any community in the State stressing that the State Government was not particularly happy with the royal father’s conduct at that time.
He urged traditional rulers to live above board in matters of their subjects adding that loyalty to constituted authority is key to peace and harmony
He assured that the issue would be looked into by the State Executive Council after the royal father has tendered his unreserved apology in writing.
in his vote of thanks, Prince Jordan Akpata, the MDA National President, expressed hearty appreciation to the Governor Ododo-led administration and prayed God for more wisdom with which to run the State.
