From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara State College of Nursing Sciences, Oke-Ode, has temporarily relocated its staff and students to Ilorin due to rising security challenges in parts of Kwara South senatorial districts.

The institution has now moved its academic activities to the Institute of Technology (I.O.T), Mini Campus of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, following the approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Confirming the development in a statement, the Press Secretary of the College, AbdulHafeez Oyewole, said the relocation exercise, which started on Monday, was concluded on Wednesday under the supervision of the College Provost, Alhaji Olanrewaju AbdulQaudri.

Addressing staff on Thursday, AbdulQaudri, described the decision as a necessary step to safeguard lives and ensure uninterrupted learning. “This relocation is not permanent. It is a response to the emergency situation in Oke-Ode. We are optimistic that peace will soon return, and the College will resume at its permanent site,” he assured.

The Provost urged lecturers and non-teaching staff to remain committed and dedicated to their duties despite the change in environment.

He also encouraged students to stay focused on their studies, maintain discipline, and be security conscious.

Lectures for Nursing and Midwifery students have since commenced at the new site, with the management pledging continued support for both staff and students during the transition.
