From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to actualising its strategic plans aimed at elevating its status as a world-class university.
Speaking to journalists after unveiling the university’s 50th-anniversary logo at its permanent site in Ilorin, Professor Egbewole emphasised that the institution’s 2024–2028 strategic plan is designed to strengthen research, infrastructure, and community engagement.
“Our strategic plan is a work in progress, and it will place the university on the right pedestal.
“We are committed to pushing the boundaries of research, improving infrastructure, and fostering meaningful community engagement. An innovation hub and other projects are already in place to drive student initiatives,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the university’s achievements over the past year, noting efforts to overcome challenges and produce graduates who are job creators rather than job seekers.
He also called on members of the alumni association to lend their support toward the university’s growth and development.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Ceremonial Committee, Professor Olugbenga Mokuolu, highlighted the significance of the newly unveiled logo, stating that it reflects the aspirations and vision of the university as it celebrates its golden jubilee.
