Twenty secondary school students in Lokoja, have been awarded scholarships by Tehilah Shelter Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to education and empowerment.
The initiative, under the foundation’s Education Empowerment Programme, is aimed at easing the financial burden on students and their families while encouraging academic excellence.
The scholarship presentation took place at Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja, with the foundation’s Programme Coordinator, Mr. Gospel Arinze, handing over the scholarships to the beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Arinze emphasised the foundation’s dedication to supporting vulnerable students, stating that education remains a powerful tool for empowerment.
“At Tehilah Shelter Foundation, we believe that no individual should feel abandoned or powerless. Our vision is to provide a pathway to sustainable independence through compassion, education, and empowerment,” he said.
He disclosed that the scholarship recipients were carefully selected from three secondary schools in the state; Crowther Memorial College ( 10 students), Bishop Delisle Secondary School, (5 students) and UBE Secondary School, (5 students) respectively.
Mr. Arinze, urged the students to stay committed to their studies and avoid distractions, stressing that they are the future leaders of society.
Also speaking at the event, Venerable JC Egbeja, the presiding clergy of Crowther Anglican Church, expressed concerns about the decline in moral values among youths. He advised the students to choose their friends wisely and focus on their future.
The Principal of Crowther Memorial College, Mr. Adinoyi Bajeh, commended Tehilah Shelter Foundation for its generosity and urged the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity to build a brighter future.
Mr. Usoro Usoro, CEO and President of Lordmatrix International, also advised the students to maintain a strong relationship with their parents and see them as role models.
The scholarship recipients expressed deep gratitude to Tehilah Shelter Foundation for the opportunity. They promised to work hard and make the foundation proud.
In addition to the scholarships, the foundation donated two chalkboards to each of the three benefiting schools, further reinforcing its commitment to improving learning conditions.
This initiative by Tehilah Shelter Foundation serves as a beacon of hope, proving that with the right support, education can truly transform lives.
