According to Mustapha, AbdulRaheem’s professionalism and dedication to ethical journalism have helped shape and strengthen the broadcasting sector over the years.

The lawmaker also commended the veteran broadcaster for promoting indigenous culture and community development through Gerin 95.5 FM, widely regarded as the first community radio station in the Ilorin Emirate.

He said the station has continued to play an important role in projecting the cultural heritage, traditions and values of the Ilorin Emirate to a wider audience.

Mustapha further acknowledged AbdulRaheem’s legacy in mentoring younger journalists and media practitioners, noting that his guidance has inspired many professionals currently making their mark in the industry.

“His wealth of experience and commitment to mentoring young professionals have continued to inspire a new generation within Nigeria’s media industry,” the senator stated.

The lawmaker also pointed out that the celebrant comes from a family with a strong tradition of public service, being a brother to former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem.
