From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command, has dismissed a viral video alleging that armed bandits responsible for the recent attack on church worshippers in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, have been apprehended.

In a clarification issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the circulating video as a complete fabrication. She said, “The information being shared is completely false and should be disregarded. No arrest has been made in connection with the incident.”

According to her, security operatives are intensifying efforts within and around Eruku to track down the attackers and ensure the safe return of the abducted victims.

She noted that spreading unverified information could cause unnecessary fear and disrupt ongoing rescue operations.

Ejire-Adeyemi appealed to residents to rely solely on official updates from the Kwara State Police Command. She said, “We urge members of the public to desist from sharing unverified videos or claims capable of misleading the community.”

The police assured that credible updates would be communicated as operations progress.
