As Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wrap-up it’s state congress, in Yola the Adamawa State capital, Alhaji Hamza Madagali, and 38 others emerge as new party leaders.
Madagali, and other elected officials will pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years. Their emergence was the highlight of the keenly watched congress, which party leaders hailed as peaceful, transparent, and credible.
In the party congress, the Chairman of Adamawa PDP Congress Committee, Mr. David Iorhemba, who supervised the process, commended delegates for their orderly conduct throughout the exercise.
Iorhemba said, a total number of 2,656 delegates drawn from all the 21 local government areas of the state participated to elect 39 officials into various positions.
“The congress was very successful,” Iorhemba declared. “Delegates cast their votes peacefully, and the results were announced without rancor. It is a testimony to our party’s commitment to internal democracy.”
The outgoing state chairman, Barr. Attahiru Shehu, used the occasion to congratulate the newly elected executives, urging them to build on the achievements of the outgoing leadership. He stressed the need for unity and discipline within the party as it prepares for upcoming political contests.
In an acceptance speech, Madagali expressed gratitude to the delegates for entrusting him with the leadership of the party. He pledged to operate an all inclusive policy that will strengthen and foster greater unity among party members.
Madagali said, “Let us continue the legacy of good governance and prepare ahead for 2027 with focus, discipline, and unity”. “To those outside our party, especially the youths and women of Adamawa, I extend a hand of fellowship. PDP is your home. Our doors are open to all who wish to contribute positively to the development of our state.”
The new Chairman emphasised that under his watch, the PDP in Adamawa would remain a beacon of people-oriented leadership and a platform that prioritises the welfare of citizens. He assured members that the new executive will work tirelessly to consolidate the party’s grassroots support and readiness for future elections.
The successful conduct of the congress, has once again demonstrated its capacity for internal cohesion and democratic renewal, and prepare to reclaim power relevance come 2027 polls.
