From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Asanlu of Oro Kingdom, High Chief  Simeon Kayode Olayemi Olayioye, has lauded the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for its remarkable infrastructural development in Oro and across Kwara South, especially the rehabilitation of the Oro-Isie Road and the ongoing upgrade of the Oro General Hospital.

Chief Olayioye gave the commendation in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, during a media tour, organised by the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, to inspect government projects in the area.

Describing the Oro-Isie Road as one of the most efficiently executed projects in the region, the community leader said the once-deplorable road has now become a smooth and safe route for motorists and commuters.

“Before this road was reconstructed, it was a nightmare for drivers because of the numerous potholes. Today, it is a joy to drive on, and our people are deeply grateful to the governor for this intervention,” he said.

Recalling the past state of the Oro General Hospital, Chief Olayioye, noted that the facility was in a pitiable condition before the intervention of the AbdulRazaq-led administration.

“About 20 years ago, shortly after I became chief, I visited the hospital and was heartbroken by what I saw. The theatre roof was leaking, and rainwater dripped into the operating room. Several appeals were made to past Governments, including that of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, but nothing was done,” he recounted.

He further recalled that even when the former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, visited the hospital and saw its dilapidated condition, he promised to intervene but the effort never materialized.

“However, when we reached out to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, he responded swiftly and ensured the hospital received a total facelift. Anyone visiting the facility now will appreciate the quality of work done,” the traditional leader added.

Chief Olayioye prayed for the governor’s continued success and wished him higher responsibilities after his tenure, saying, “By God’s grace, we pray for another governor like him who will sustain this tempo of development.”

He also appealed to the state government to install speed breakers along the newly reconstructed Oro-Isie Road to prevent accidents caused by overspeeding.

“Many lives have been lost in the past due to reckless driving. We plead with the Government to help us with speed breakers for the safety of our people,” he said.

Residents of Oro and neighboring communities have continued to commend Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration for its visible infrastructural projects across Kwara South, noting that the developments have brought relief and renewed confidence in governance.
