Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is to be conferred with a traditional title by the Ogori Traditional Council during the grand finale of this year’s Ovia Osese festival.
Governor Ododo who is being conferred with the title of Ok’Ubane, is among eight other individuals penciled down to be honoured at the event.
The title, according to a statement signed by the Chairman, Publicity Committee of 2025 Ovia Osese, Mr. James Oyewole, means ‘Kinsman’, noting that Ogori community recognises the Governor as one of their own.
The statement described the Governor as one who has shown keen interest in the development of the community and the wellbeing of the people.
Also to be honoured is the wife of one-time Governor of Edo State, Mrs. Usie Osunbor and the wife of former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Josephine Ayu, both illustrious daughters of Ogori community.
Others include; Chief James Abiodun Faleke, Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Justice M.F Anenih, Mrs. Owolabi, Barrister Festus Fuanter, Hon. Nentawe Yiltwada and Mrs. Felicia Igoche.
Those being honoured, the statement further noted, are in one way or the other, connected to the community and have done one thing or another to enhance the development of Ogori.
This year’s Ovia Osese festival, the statement, also noted, will be a very remarkable one, adding that already, preparations have reached very high level for the community to play host to dignitaries from far and wide, including tourists across the globe.
“Ogori will be playing host to thousands of dignitaries from in and out Nigeria. Ovia Osese festival remains one of Nigeria’s signature festivals and it’s a crowd puller”, the statement reiterated.
The event will hold at the Civic Centre, Ogori on Saturday, May 3, 2025 and it is expected to begin at 10:00am.
