The 21 Local Government Chairmen in Kogi State elected last Saturday, have been sworn in by the state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, with a charge on them to be transparent.
The ceremony which took place at the Glass House of Government House, was attended by party stalwarts, relations and friends of the elected Chairmen and their Vice.
Governor Ododo had admonished the newly elected council bosses to run a transparent government, prioritising the wellbeing of their people.
While promising that they would be given free hand to run the affairs of their respective councils, the Governor, however, said that they would be kept under close scrutiny to ensure that their actions do not run counter to the larger desires and aspirations of his administration especially in terms of good governance.
The Governor who expressed delighted at the history being made with the election of a female as council Chairman, said his administration would continue to give priority to women empowerment.
While congratulating them on their successes at the polls, he charged to run an all embracing government, where effort is not spared to bring everyone on board to contribute their quota to the development of their areas.
