NUJ inaugurates new Executives for State Information Chapel

The newly elected Executive Committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), State Information Chapel has been inaugurated with a charge to embrace diligence, unity and commitment to move the chapel to an enviable hight.

Kogi State Treasurer of the NUJ, Comrade Sunny Adebija, made the call while presiding over the election of the new officials at the NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja.

Comrade Sunny Adebija said there was no successful leadership without sacrifice, stressing that there must be team work and tolerance to guarantee the success of their tenure.

He particularly urged the new chairman to see himself as a servant leader who should carry everyone along in the administration, saying team work should be the watchword.

The NUJ State Treasurer congratulated the team on their emergence and wished them well in their assignment.

Also speaking, the Acting Secretary of the NUJ, Dr.Atuluku Samuel, maintained that leadership was a responsibility and advised the new set of NUJ leaders at the Chapel to be faithful and diligent in their respective offices.

Dr Atuluku also expressed appreciation to the State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Honourable Kingsley Fanwo for creating an enabling environment for the Information Officers.

According to him, the commitment and sincerity of the Commissioner has helped to reposition the Ministry and appealed to Honourable Fanwo to sustain the positive development.

He urged politicians to learn from NUJ’s example, citing the peaceful conduct of its elections as a model which the political class should emulate in order to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

In his address, the newly elected Chairman of the Chapel, Mr Solomon Musa, expressed profound appreciation to members of the chapel for the confidence reposed in the new executive, pledging to lead with transparency, fairness, and dedication while prioritizing the welfare of members and the advancement of the chapel.

The Chairman emphasized that the success of the new administration would depend on the collective support and cooperation of all members, urging members to remain united and uphold the ethics of the profession, work together to promote responsible journalism in the interest of the public and the image of the chapel.

He assured members that the new executive would operate an open-door policy, encourage constructive engagement, and initiate programs aimed at strengthening professional capacity, promoting members’ welfare, and fostering harmony within the union.

He reaffirmed the EXCO’s commitment to building a vibrant and progressive Information Chapel that will continue to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Union of Journalists while contributing meaningfully to the development of the journalism profession.

Other elected Executives are Olajumoke Ajani, Vice Chairman, Gloria Ojochogu Amodu Secretary, Salau Ibrahim Treasurer, Abah Benjamin Eneojoh Auditor, while Mariam Teni Adams servesSecretary.iial Secretary.
