Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, is seeking for partnership with the Tayan Group Construction and other organisations, to provide affordable housing for journalists and complete its ultra-modern Congress Hall project in Abuja.

The union’s leadership, Ms Grace Ike, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to Tayan Group’s headquarters, where the company’s Managing Director, Akinjide Fabgemi, reaffirmed its commitment to partnerships promoting inclusive development in the media sector.
NUJ FCT Council Chairman, equally expressed the union’s eagerness to collaborate with forward-thinking organizations like Tayan Group, citing the company’s role in Abuja’s urban transformation.
The proposed partnership she said is aimed at promoting transparency, development, and shared prosperity in the Federal Capital Territory.
Ms Ike also seek Tayan’s support for its Congress Hall project, which will serve as a modern center for media training, professional events, and journalists’ welfare.
She outlined the potential collaboration areas, which includes media promotion of Tayan Group’s projects, joint community initiatives, capacity-building programs, and mass housing schemes for journalists.
In his response, Tayan Group’s Managing Director, Akinjide Fabgemi, described the engagement as “long overdue” and emphasised the media’s critical role in real estate development. He noted that Tayan Group offers affordable land and housing options across Abuja, with prices starting from ₦600,000 and flexible payment plans spanning up to twenty years.
The proposed partnership also includes the NUJ FCT Journalists Village, which aimed at enhancing economic empowerment in the media sector. Ike further expressed optimism that the partnership would make the Journalists Village a reality for NUJ members.
Fabgemi the Tayan’s MD further assured NUJ members of flexible payment plans and emphasised Tayan Group’s commitment to making housing affordable for all Nigerians. “Our goal is to ensure that even the poorest of the poor can have a roof over their heads,” he said.
The partnership is expected to yield positive results for both parties, promoting transparency, development, and shared prosperity in the Federal Capital Territory.
