The North East Governor’s forum, have resolved to enforce remarkable steps to ensure it overcomes insecurity issues in the region.
This was disclosed during the 12th North East region’s meeting, held recently in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, to address some of the pressing issues which included insecurity, infrastructure deficits, and displacement.
The meeting was formally declared open by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum, who delivered a keynote speech highlighting the importance of unity and sustained efforts to tackle the challenges facing the North East, including insecurity, infrastructure deficits and displacements.
In a welcome address, the host Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, expressed delight at receiving his fellow governors and emphasised the need for deeper cooperation and shared vision in promoting peace, economic growth, and infrastructural development.
The opening session, set the stage for a closed-door meeting, where governors, including Gombe State’s Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, deliberated on key issues.
The presentation of North East Development Commission, NIGCOMSAT, and the University of Maiduguri are expected to inform discussions on regional progress and solutions.
The governors also are on top of gear to address broader national concerns impacting the zone.
A communique which outlining the Forum’s resolutions, were also released at the end of the closed-door meeting, offering insight into the actionable steps agreed upon by the leaders.
