NEMA,SEMA distribute relief materials to victims of Omala communal clash

The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has flagged off the distribution of relief items to victims of Bagana and Agojeju- Odo communal crisis and Herder’s attack in Omala LGA.

The items which include foodstuff, mattresses, toiletries, plastic buckets and containers as well as other relevant materials, worth millions of naira, were earlier distributed to the state government by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

In a bid to give hope and relief to the victms, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ensured the prompt release and distribution of relief materials from the Federal Government through National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to complement the efforts of the State Government.

According to a statement issued by SEMA Media Team , the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Mouktar Atima, while flaging off the distribution of the relief materials at Abejukolo , headquarters of Omala Local Government Area, assured residents of the resolve of the state government to leave no stone unturned in its determination to bring permanent peace to Omala people.

While urging the people to embrace peace, love and tolerance ,he admonished Nigerians to shun all forms of violence in the interest of sustained growth and development of the nation.

The SEMA boss equally urged them to continue rallying support for the Governor Ododo led administration to succeed to enable him “consolidating on the good work of his predecessor” in leading Kogi State to sustainable development.

He then appreciated the NEMA team for the seamless manner they conducted the distribution of the relief materials to victims of both crisis.

On his part, the Head of NEMA team, Mr Agonta Collins, sympathized with the affected communities and commended them for their orderlinees during distribution .

He also charged them to strive to remain more united as a people for development to thrive.

Earlier while receiving the NEMA and SEMA officials at Abejukolo, the Omala LGA Caretaker Chairman, Hon Edibo Ameh said the gesture was part of government’s efforts to ameliorate the sufferings of those affected by the crisis.

He thanked the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the love extended persons currently displaced from their original homes to IDPs camps.

Hon. Ameh equally appreciated Governor Ododo for his sustained support as well as provision of relief materials to cushion the effects of the crisis on the victims.

Speaking,one of the beneficiaries, Mr Suleiman Shehu from Bagana, appreciated the federal and state governments for practically demonstrating love to victims and communities affected .

He then assured the government that Bagana people will remain committed and supportive of the current administrations at both the federal and state level.

Another beneficiary, Mr Yusuf Idakwo from Agojeju-Odo, appreciated the state and federal governments for their timely interventions.
