LG autonomy dully effective under Gov AbdulRazaq’s administration – Salahu

From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, has said that local government autonomy is being fully implemented under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

According to him, the governor’s commitment to local government autonomy aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Salahu made the remarks in Ilorin when members of the Ayegbami Community in Dada, Okelele area of the state capital paid him a thank-you visit following the repair of their vandalised electricity transformer.

The transformer was repaired through funding provided by the Ilorin East Local Government administration.

He said the gesture demonstrated the effectiveness of local government administration in Kwara State under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Salahu commended the governor for implementing full local government autonomy, which, he noted, has revitalised the previously moribund local government system in the state by giving council chairmen the freedom to operate and deliver development projects to their communities.

He added that the dividends of democracy are now being felt at the grassroots across the local government area.

“In Ibagun Ward particularly, the Ilorin East Local Government has remodelled the Upper Area Court Complex in Akerebiata along Sobi Army Barracks Road, Ilorin; donated a transformer to the Igbawere community; constructed drainage channels and graded the Abata Jagun–Sorafaja–Al-Nur Road; repaired boreholes in Olaoparun, Omitopo, Dada and Alawo-Nla communities; and remodelled Kankatu Market after it was damaged by a rainstorm,” Salahu said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ayegbami Community Development Association, Imam Daud Alata, requested Salahu to convey the community’s profound appreciation to the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Hon. Lukman Agbelere, for facilitating the repair of the transformer.

He said the intervention had restored electricity supply to the area and improved the living conditions of residents.
