KWASU gets Full NUC accreditation for 21 courses

Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC), for 21 of its undergraduate programmes, while four others received interim accreditation.

This was revealed in a statement by the Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, and made available to journalists in Ilorin.

The accreditation exercise, conducted by the NUC in October/November 2024, was officially confirmed in a letter dated April 30, 2025, and signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Engineer Abraham Chundusu.

The fully accredited programmes, valid for five years, include Taxation, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Physics, Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, as well as several education courses like Special Education, French, Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Computer Science.

Others are Business Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Agricultural Education, Biology Education, Physics Education, and Chemistry Education.

Meanwhile, French, Mathematics Education, English Education, and Yoruba Education were granted interim accreditation for two years, pending re-evaluation.

Reacting to the development, KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed satisfaction with the outcome and lauded the dedication of both academic and non-academic staff.

“This achievement is a testament to the commitment and hard work of our staff. We will continue to support initiatives that promote academic excellence, research, and community service,” he stated.

Professor Jimoh also urged stakeholders to redouble their efforts in pushing the university to greater academic heights.
