The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Kwara State Chapter, has provided financial support to 20 students from various tertiary institutions in Kwara, awarding each with N40,000 to assist in covering their tuition fees.

Speaking at the event held in Ilorin, the Chairman of YOWICAN Kwara, Evangelist Stephen Awoyale, highlighted the significance of the empowerment scheme, which he said aims to relieve and inspire the students in their academic journey.

“Today, with immense gratitude and excitement, we gather to launch the third phase of our Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) here in Kwara,” Awoyale stated. “Our mission is clear: to empower, uplift, and transform the lives of our youth, equipping them to reach their full potential.”

Awoyale, explained that the initiative targets students facing financial challenges, ensuring they have the resources to continue their studies.

“We understand the economic hardships making it difficult for many families to keep their children in school. In light of these challenges, we feel a divine responsibility to provide assistance to those in need,” he said.

The chairman urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the funds, emphasizing that the money should go solely toward their education.

“You have been chosen not only for your academic potential but also for your resilience in the face of adversity. This support is strictly for your education, not for phones or frivolities,” We believe in you and your ability to use this support to make a positive impact on society,” Awoyale added.

Awoyale also expressed gratitude to Pastor Olatunde Oladokun, CEO of Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme Nigeria Limited (SEAP), for his support of the initiative, noting that it reflects his commitment to youth empowerment in Kwara.

In his address to the students, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, encouraged them to be ambassadors of faith, family, and school. “You were chosen by God, not by right but by privilege. I pray you fulfill your destiny and make us all proud,” Adeyemi said.

Grateful beneficiaries, including Shalom Dada, a University of Ilorin student, praised the initiative. “This support is a timely response to the financial challenges we are facing. May God bless the organizers and sponsors,” Dada remarked. Another recipient, Victor Oladipo, said the assistance was a surprise and a blessing for his educational pursuit. “I pray for God’s blessings on the sponsors,” he expressed.

The initiative underscores YOWICAN’s commitment to promoting spiritual, academic, and socio-economic growth among Christian youths in Kwara State.
