Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has announced its readiness to host the 3rd edition of the KU8+ conference, a major academic gathering aimed at driving innovation and sustainability in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
The three-day event is scheduled to take place from August 6 to 8, 2025.
The conference, which will bring together scholars, industry experts, policymakers, and university leaders from within and outside Kwara State, will focus on the theme “Innovation and Sustainability of Higher Education in a Changing World.”
Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee and KWASU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olubukola Dada, disclosed that the conference will feature high-level discussions across multiple disciplines.
She noted, “This year’s conference is an opportunity for academics, industry players, and communities to connect and exchange ideas that can shape the future of our universities.”
The event will include a keynote address by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abdullahi Ribadu, alongside two lead paper presentations and two pre-conference workshops led by prominent scholars.
Emeritus Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB and Chairman of the KU8+ Board of Trustees, is billed to attend as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and KU8+ Chair, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), will serve as the Chief Host.
The Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Alade Jimoh, will welcome participants as the official host of the conference, which will also feature proprietors of KU8+ private universities, pro-chancellors of public universities, and members of the Board of Trustees as special guests.
The KU8+ consortium comprises all universities based in Kwara State, united in their commitment to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and advancing academic excellence across the region.
