The Kwara State Government and top security chiefs, have moved to reassure residents of Kaiama Local Government Area, following a deadly bandit attack on Woro Community that claimed several lives and destroyed property.

The attack, which reportedly occurred around 5:30 p.m. on February 3, 2026, saw suspected armed extremists invade the community, shooting sporadically and setting houses and shops ablaze, according to the Kwara State Police Command.
In response to the tragic incident, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, led a high-powered delegation, including the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo; Director of the Department of State Services, Michael Oganwu; and Brigade Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General N.N. Rume, on an assessment visit to the affected community on February 4, 2026.

The delegation also met with the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, and families of victims to commiserate with them over the loss of lives. Authorities confirmed that those killed in the attack have been recovered and given a mass burial.
Police preliminary investigations indicate that the attackers stormed the settlement in a coordinated manner, unleashing violence on residents before fleeing the scene. Security agencies have since deployed a joint team comprising police operatives, military personnel, and National Forest Guards to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
Speaking on the development, Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo, expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and the entire Woro community, assuring residents that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Woro Community during this moment of grief. Residents are urged to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly provide credible information that may assist ongoing operations,” the police commissioner said.
The police command added that a full-scale investigation has commenced to track down those responsible for the attack, assuring residents that security agencies remain committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
Authorities also urged members of the public to report suspicious movements or provide useful information through the Kwara State Police emergency lines, assuring that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
