From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin.

The Association of Resident Doctors at Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (ARD-KWASUTH), has commended Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, for the timely disbursement of the 2024 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), an essential support for resident doctors in Kwara State.

In a statement signed by Dr. Usman Abubakar, President, and Dr. Audu Jiya, General Secretary of ARD-KWASUTH, the doctors expressed their gratitude, noting that the governor’s prompt action demonstrates a strong commitment to strengthening healthcare services across the state.

“This gesture further convinces us that health is indeed one of your major priority areas for the people of Kwara,” the statement read.

The association acknowledged the governor’s role in developing KWASUTH, which is now positioned to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of Kwara State.

“We are happy KWASUTH is taking shape to take up the challenge of providing quality healthcare to the people of the state. In return, the doctors in KWASUTH are ready to provide these excellent services,” they added.

However, ARD-KWASUTH called on the governor to address the critical shortage of healthcare personnel, which they described as a pressing challenge for the teaching hospital.

“We know the shortage of health workers is now a national crisis, but that of KWASUTH has reached an alarming threshold,” they stated.

However, we believe with you piloting the affairs of the state, we know that this particular challenge will soon be a thing of the past ” the statement further added.

The association’s commendation highlights the governor’s dedication to advancing healthcare in Kwara State, particularly through continued support for the state’s resident doctors.
