The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Adekimi Ojo, has called on Christian residents of the state to reflect on the significance of Easter by promoting peace, gratitude, and unity during the celebrations.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Aseyemi, the CP extended his warm Easter greetings to Christians across the state, urging them to embrace the redemptive spirit of the season.
To ensure the safety of lives and property during the festivities, CP Ojo said the Command has put strategic security measures in place across Kwara, including the deployment of intelligence and operational resources.
He directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Units to step up visibility policing and maintain active surveillance in high-risk areas and public spaces.
He stressed the importance of intelligence-driven policing, charging officers in charge of operations to prioritise proactive crime-prevention strategies. “Security coverage must not be taken lightly. Any lapses will be met with firm accountability at the command level,” he warned.
The Police Commissioner also appealed to members of the public to remain law-abiding and vigilant, urging them to report suspicious movements or incidents to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency numbers: +234 812 527 5046 and +234 703 206 9501.
“As we mark this sacred occasion, let us not only celebrate but also remain committed to peace, love, and cooperation with one another,” he said.
He concluded by wishing all residents of Kwara State a safe and joyous Easter celebration.
