Security operations in Kwara State, have received a major boost as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), commissioned two new divisional offices in Ilorin West and Ilorin South Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the event, Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, said security remains the foundation for sustainable development.
“No society can grow in the absence of peace and order. We will continue to support security agencies to protect lives and property,” he assured.
Ilorin West Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Laden, explained that the project was designed to provide NSCDC personnel with a conducive working environment to enhance their efficiency. “Development only thrives in a peaceful atmosphere, and we are committed to ensuring that peace,” he said.
Similarly, Ilorin South Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Podo, described the new facility as a strategic security hub that would enable rapid response to emergencies and strengthen community engagement.
He urged officers to remain professional and committed to their duties, pledging continuous support from the council.
Kwara NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed, disclosed that the newly inaugurated Ilorin West Division is the largest in the state.
He revealed that under his two-year leadership, the Corps had established 14 divisional offices across Kwara, bringing security closer to the grassroots.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. We will not relent in our efforts to ensure that residents can go about their daily lives without fear,” Dr. Umar said, while commending the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, for transforming the Corps into a modern and respected security institution.
He also praised Governor AbdulRazaq for creating an enabling environment for the agency to operate effectively.
