The Lokoja Local Government Command of the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS), has reported significant progress in combating fraud, with the recent arrest of two suspects accused of stealing from and defrauding point-of-sale (POS) agents.
According to KSVS Commander Mohammad Zuberu, the suspects, identified as Mustapha Mohammad and his accomplice, Blessing Sunday, were apprehended after days of surveillance following complaints from several victims.
Zuberu disclosed the arrests after handing the suspects over to the Police A Division in Lokoja.
The investigation reportedly began after complaints from POS operators in the Cantonment, Kpata, and Nataco Junction areas.
Mohammad, alleged to be the scheme’s mastermind, was taken into custody first. During his interrogation, he reportedly led officials to his accomplice, Blessing Sunday, who was subsequently detained at a popular hotel in Lokoja.
The suspects allegedly confessed to defrauding at least three POS businesses in Lokoja.
Commander Zuberu extended appreciation to Lokoja Local Government Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, for his continued support, emphasising that the Command remains committed to partnering with conventional law enforcement to enhance security in Lokoja.
