The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, has charged the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA), to remain professional and non-partisan in its operations.

In a press release by Segun Adegboyega, Information Officer, Ministry of Information and Communications, said the Commissioner, stressed that the State Government will not play politics with revenue generation.

Fanwo gave the charge during a working visit to the corporate headquarters of KOSSAA in Lokoja, where he emphasised that all political parties and organisations must pay the legally approved fees for outdoor advertisements and signage across the state.

“The Governor needs revenue to continue providing services and infrastructure for the people. This agency is one of the key revenue-generating arms of the government, and we expect it to perform optimally,” Fanwo said.

“It doesn’t matter which party is putting up billboards or signposts; what matters is that everyone complies with the law and pays the required fees. As we approach the political season, KOSSAA must ensure strict enforcement of signage and advertisement regulations,” he added.

The Commissioner commended the General Manager of KOSSAA, Mr. Richard Osaseyi, for bringing his private sector experience and business acumen to bear in the management of the agency, noting that such professionalism is crucial to achieving the administration’s revenue targets.

Earlier, the General Manager, Mr. Richard Osaseyi thanked the Commissioner for the visit and expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s continuous support. He outlined some of the operational challenges confronting the agency and assured the State Government of KOSSAA’s determination to meet and surpass its revenue expectations.

“We are committed to upholding transparency and accountability in our operations. With the continued support of the Ministry and the Government, we will contribute significantly to the state’s internally generated revenue,” Osaseyi stated.

The visit, according to the Commissioner, was part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen synergy among revenue-generating agencies in line with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s vision of building a financially sustainable Kogi State.
