President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid, has continued to receive major endorsements from across Kogi State including that of members of the Kogi State sixth Assembly who have publicly thrown their weight behind his return to office.

While announcing their position in Lokoja , the former law makers equally passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ahmed Usman Odoodo, for his leadership qualities , urging him to continue in office beyond 2027.

The group made this known during a solidarity visit to Governor Ododo at Government House, Lokoja in Lokoja.

This recent endorsement adds to the growing number of endorsements from individuals and groups across Kogi state.

It would be recalled that just recently, Kogi State youths endorsed and supported Mr. President with a cheque of one hundred million naira for the purchase of his nomination form.

The current endorsement by the 25 former State Assembly members according to their chairman and former Speaker of the sixth Assembly, Rt. Hon.Ahmed Imam, was triggered by the need to show appreciation to the president for his visionary leadership ,most especially his support for Kogi State.

Addressing Government House Press Crew after the meeting, Governor Ododo who affirmed Kogi State as the home of All Progressives Congress,(APC), said the visit was an expression of appreciation to God Almighty for life and leadership. Just as it was organised to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his impactful governance in Kogi State and across the country.

According to Governor Ododo, the lawmakers were in Government House to among other things, express gratitude to the President for approving the establishment of a Free Trade Zones in the state ; in addition to the approval for the establishment of an airport in Kogi State, describing the decision as a major milestone in the state’s developmental plans.

He further acknowledged the historical significance of Kogi State in view of its location as the place where the first aircraft landed in Nigeria ; just as it serves as a major gateway connecting the northern and southern parts of the country.

The Governor equally observed that the absence of an airport would have been a setback for a state that borders ten others, including the Federal Capital Territory.

While noting that Kogi State is richly endowed with over thirty-two solid mineral resources in commercial quantities, Governor Ododo pointed out that the proposed airport would help unlock the state’s economic potential and attract investors.

The Governor explained that the visit of the lawmakers was to formally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and appeal to him to convey their message of support to the President.

He further added that members of the Sixth Assembly also expressed confidence in his leadership, describing him as energetic and capable, even as they urged him to continue serving the people of the state beyond his current tenure.

Earlier, the leader of the group and former Speaker of the sixth Assembly, RT. Hon. Ahmed Imam, said the visit was to demonstrate solidarity with the Governor and to formally endorse both Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second terms.

He emphasised that the Assembly supports the policies and programmes of the current administration, which he said were geared towards improving the welfare and development of the people of Kogi State.
