•Secures full accreditation for 27 programmes

Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, as the school matriculates 6,549 students for the 2024/2025 academic session across its eight schools and 57 programmes.
During the institution’s 32nd matriculation ceremony held on Saturday in Lokoja, the Rector, Professor Usman Ogbo, revealed that 3,708 students were admitted into National Diploma (ND) programmes, while 2,841 enrolled for Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
Professor Ogbo announced that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) had granted full accreditation to 27 programmes and approved new courses.
According to him, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) granted the Polytechnic 100% success in the Institutional Accreditation, Resource Inspection, and Programme Accreditation conducted between December 18th and 20th, 2024. Additionally, all 30 programmes presented during the exercise were fully reaccredited.
Professor Ogbo highlighted that 19 out of the Polytechnic’s 57 programmes were introduced under his administration, making up 33.3% of the institution’s academic offerings.
He expressed particular pride in the establishment of the Department of Mass Communication, describing it as a significant achievement he accomplished as a result of his vision and determination to attain academic excellence in the state.
The Rector commended the Information Technology and Resource Centre (ITRC) for its role in conducting e-examinations, enhancing security, and expediting result processing, which facilitates early mobilization of graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
He expressed gratitude to the former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for his visionary leadership that established the stable academic calendar now being enjoyed in the school.
Professor Ogbo equally expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his commitment and dedication to the sustainable growth and development of the institution, citing the fencing of the Itakpe campus and the installation of CCTV cameras on both campuses “to enhance conducive environment for teaching, learning and research”.
He then used the occasion to reassure students of the institution’s commitment to providing quality education in both character and learning. while advising the matriculants to detest from any form social vices as the school has zero tolerance for such.
The Rector commended the management and staff of the school for their collective efforts channelled towards attaining this great academic feat.
In her goodwill message at the occasion, the Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Comfort Nwuchola, commended the Rector for this giant strides at the Institution, while urging the students to be committed to their studies.
