The Old Students’ Association of Okehi Community Secondary School (OCSS), Uboro, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Kogi State Head of Civil Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. A. B. Albert, both of whom are distinguished alumni of the school.
The delegation, led by the Association’s President Comrade Jimoh Itopa, in company of the school’s principal, commended the duo’s contributions to education and public service in Kogi State, presenting them with souvenirs in appreciation of their support.
The association also highlighted the challenges facing OCSS Uboro, including inadequate teaching staff, dilapidated infrastructure, completion of the Evinemi Hall project and security concerns, even as it highlighted the achievements recorded by the association over the years.
Dr. Evinemi, from the 1987 set, expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to visit the school to assess its needs.
He also requested the deployment of four vigilante personnel to provide security for the school, emphasising the importance of protecting lives and property.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of Education, Mr. A. B. Albert, who graduated from the same school in 1985, expressed gratitude for the visit and promised to undertake an official visit to the school.
He assured the association that he would leverage his office to address the issue of inadequate staffing and provide the necessary manpower to strengthen the school’s operations.
