As Kogi state marks its 33 years anniversary, the Kogi NGOs Network (KONGONET), has called for the immediate kick-off of the implementation of Strategic Development Framework as outlined in the Kogi State 32 years Development Plan.

In a statement signed by the Chairperson, Amb. Idris Ozovehe Muraina and Secretary, Mr. Reuben Joshua, and made available to Journalists in Lokoja recently, urged government to prioritize strategic planning and implementation to enhance the lives of kogians.

The Framework they noted is a roadmap to inclusive growth that will empower communities and create sustainable economic opportunities.

While calling on kogians to unite and advocate for policies that will promote equity, transparency and accountability in all aspects of governance and development, KONGONET and other stakeholders it noted has been at the forefront of advocating for a long term development plan for the state.

The statement titled “A call for action and inclusive development”, noted that, although, significant strides had been made, much is yet to be done.

“As we reflect on our journey, we acknowledge the immense potential that Kogi State boasts, its abundant human and natural resources, strategic location as the confluence of major rivers, and its unique position bordering ten states, including the Federal Capital Territory.”

According to the statement, challenges faced by the state, demand renewed commitment and strategic interventions to harness available resources and foster sustainable development.

“We strongly call on the current administration under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to immediately approve the State Action Plan (SAP) and operationalize the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Co- creation platform to serve as a buffer to the attainment of the much awaited development of the state.

“It is imperative that we engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration to ensure that no one is left behind in our quest for progress.

“As we celebrate our past, let us also envision a future where Kogi State stands as a beacon of development, resilience, and unity. Now is the time to act, let us embark on this journey together for a brighter, more inclusive Kogi State”, it said.
