The Kogi State House of Assembly, has sworn in Hon. Hassan Musa, as the new member representing Okura State Constituency in Dekina Local Government Area.

The swearing-in ceremony took place during the Assembly’s first plenary session after its legislative recess, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf.

Hon. Hassan Shado Musa, who emerged victorious in the recent by-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), replaces the late Rt. Hon. Enema Paul, who until his demise represented Okura Constituency in the 8th Assembly.

Administering the oath of office, the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Ahmed Chogudo officially inducted the new lawmaker, marking his formal entry into the legislative chamber.

With his swearing-in, the Kogi State House of Assembly now has its full complement of twenty five members.

In his welcome address, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, congratulated Hon. Shado on his successful election and urged him to serve his constituents with dedication, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility.

“have no doubt that Hon. Shado will be a positive addition to this Assembly,” the Speaker said. “He has demonstrated humility and eagerness to learn since his election, and I believe he will rise to the expectations of his people and contribute meaningfully to our legislative work.”

Hon. Yusuf commended the people of Okura State Constituency for their continued faith in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and for their overwhelming support in the by-election, which he described as a reaffirmation of confidence in the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the APC-led administration in Kogi State.

The Speaker also used the opportunity to call on lawmakers to recommit themselves to the core responsibilities of lawmaking, representation, and oversight, emphasizing the need to always prioritize the welfare of their constituents.

“Our duty is to make laws that improve the lives of our people and to provide effective oversight that ensures accountability in governance,” he said.

He commended Governor Ododo’s administration for sustaining people-oriented policies, which, according to him, have strengthened governance and made the APC more attractive to the people of Kogi State.

In his remarks, Hon. Hassan Shado Musa, expressed gratitude to God, his constituents, and the leadership of the Assembly for the warm reception.

He pledged to represent the people of Okura Constituency with integrity and commitment, assuring them of his readiness to work with colleagues for the development of the state.

With Hon. Shado’s swearing-in, the Kogi State House of Assembly now resumes its legislative business in full strength, poised to continue its agenda of service, accountability, and good governance.
