From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara Legends, a diverse group of individuals from Kwara State, have called for the institutionalization of the biography of Late Dr. Abubakar Olushola Saraki, a renowned Kwara political leader and philanthropist.

This appeal was made during a symposium organized in Saraki’s memory in Ilorin Kwara State, themed “Sustaining the Saraki Legacy and Building Inclusive Leadership for the Future.”

Prof. Ali Ahmad, former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, described Saraki as a man who bridged the gap between the powerful and the ordinary, favoring humility over grandeur.

“Saraki inspired countless individuals to strive for excellence and selfless service. His values of compassion, progress, and community upliftment must continue to guide us,” Ahmad said.

Prof. Fatai Aremu, a Professor of Political Science at the University of Ilorin, emphasised the need to institutionalise Saraki’s legacy and history for future generations.

He encouraged politicians to learn from Saraki’s selflessness and commitment to the masses.

Dr. Bukola Saraki, former Senate President and son of the late Saraki, reiterated the importance of preserving his father’s legacy, stating, “His impact on the country’s political sphere cannot be erased.”
