• Presents complementary scholarship award to Miss Favour Adebayo

Kogi State Government has approved the payment of 316 million naira for the payment of bursary to 8,750 students of the state origin who have successfully uploaded their documents to the platform.
The Commissioner For Education, Hon Wemi Jones made the disclosure at the presentation of a complementary cheque to Miss. Favour Adebayo, an indigene of the state for winning the European Union Erasmus+ scholarship to study in Poland.
According to Hon. Jones, 8,549 undergraduate students will receive N30,000, totalling ₦256 million naira, while 201 law school students will receive N300,000 each amounting to ₦60,300million
He noted that there is also an increase in the number of students to benefit, adding that students are verified after uploading appropriate documents.
He stated that education is not a sector to play politics with and the government is committed to ensuring that students from the state get support, in addition to several initiatives that the government is undertaking.
Mr. Afolabi Raji, Executive Chairman, Kogi State Scholarship Board said the State Government is committed through the Board to ensure that every Kogite, who is a student, attains academic success and becomes responsible.
The Chairman said the State Government is committed to supporting Kogi students to succeed, and said the scholarship is to complement the tuition, accommodation fee of Miss Favour in other areas of need.
The State Government presented a complimentary cheque of N5m to Miss Favour who was represented by her father Mr. Moses Adebayo.
She appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his commitment to education while making himself available and accessible to citizens of the state.
She commended the commissioner of education for his solid support and commitment in making sure that Kogi state has access to qualitative education.
Miss Favour won the scholarship while studying Entrepreneurship at the Nasarawa State University through an exchange program.
