From Taiye Joseph Ilorin

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two eminent statesmen, Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Edwin Clark, describing their deaths as a significant loss to Nigeria’s democratic evolution and national discourse.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Forum, NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, acknowledged the immense contributions of the nonagenarians, noting that they were fearless advocates for democracy, constitutional development, and resource control.

“These were men of great conviction who never shied away from speaking truth to power. Their voices shaped national conversations on governance, federalism, and the rights of ethnic minorities. Their departure leaves a huge void,” AbdulRazaq stated.

The Forum extended its condolences to the governments and people of Ogun and Delta states, as well as the families of the deceased. It also prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls, affirming that their legacies would endure for future generations.
