From Abdullahi Idris, Bauchi

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has realigned his political base by joining the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), marking a significant shift aimed at consolidating leadership strength and redefining the state’s political trajectory.

Rather than a reaction to internal party turbulence, the transition reflects a calculated repositioning designed to build a more cohesive, disciplined, and responsive political structure capable of delivering sustainable governance and electoral success.

Speaking at the Government House in Bauchi, the Governor described the move as the outcome of broad-based consultations with key stakeholders and loyal supporters. He emphasised that the decision is anchored on the need to establish a more stable and purpose-driven platform that prioritizes the aspirations of the people of Bauchi State.

According to him, the new alignment is not merely about party affiliation, but about constructing a resilient political framework that guarantees continuity, strengthens grassroots engagement and enhances the delivery of democratic dividends.

Governor Mohammed further underscored that the restructuring process has already commenced, with members of the State Executive Council stepping aside to allow for a seamless political transition.

Meanwhile, the Governor revealed that a comprehensive mobilization strategy is underway, including digital membership registration across all wards and local government areas, an initiative aimed at deepening participation and expanding the party’s reach.

“This is not a retreat; it is a deliberate advance,”the Governor affirmed, portraying the move as a bold step toward securing a more inclusive and strategically positioned political future.

In his response, the National Chairman of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Alhaji Yusuf Dantalle, warmly received the Governor into the party, describing his entry as a major boost to the party’s national relevance and organizational capacity.

Dantalle reiterated the party’s foundational principles of integrity, sacrifice, and service, noting that the APM continues to distinguish itself as a people-oriented platform rooted in fairness, inclusivity, and grassroots empowerment.

He further highlighted the party’s growing footprint across the country, referencing its success in local council elections as evidence of its expanding influence and acceptance among the electorate.

This strategic realignment signals more than a change of party—it represents a renewed commitment to purposeful leadership, political independence, and the pursuit of a more effective governance structure for the people of Bauchi State.
