Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo, has announced automatic employment to the overall best graduating students in each of the faculties of the Confluence University of Science And Technology, Osara ( CUSTECH), from the 2024/25 and 2025/26 accedemic session.

Governor Ododo made this disclosure during the Maiden Convocation Ceremony (1st and 2nd Graduants), held at the Institution’s main campus, recently.
He expressed delight over their excellent performances while acknowledging that their hard work deserves recognition.

Governor Ododo described the first convocation ceremony as a clear indication that the State Government’s investments in the institution was yielding positive impact as the graduates proceed into the labour market to maximumly contribute to the national development.
In addition, the Governor maintained that the convocation was a testimony of faith, vision and continuity; stressing that when the idea of establishing the university was first conceived, many thought it was a distant dream but with commitment and dedication of the founder, the immediate past Governor Yahaya Bello, that dream, now stands tall as signified in it’s accedemic glory.

Speaking further, he pointed out that his administration inherited the dream and vision of the immediate past Governor Yahaya Bello, to build a world class science and technology institution, to create more opportunities and as well as empower the youths with knowledge and skills required to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
He added that his administration has been able to improve on the structure, broaden the scope and raise it to a world class institution.

According to him, his administration has in the last 21 months, successfully invested massively to make the university not only a citadel of learning but also a model of building security and functionality.
He said the growth being witnessed at the institution was a typical example of a success story of continuity and consolidation. Just as he stated that the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello dreamt of a future in which kogi would have unhindered access to quality science and technology education.
He further explained that the University was founded to expand access to quality science and technology education for the teeming young population, who he observed for years faced challenges of securing admission into existing universities across the country.
According to him, his administration over the years, has sustained the massive investment in the future of the youth which was initiated by former governor Yahaya Bello.
Governor Ododo further highlighted some of the contributions of his administration to the institution to include the completion of the internal road network, completion of several academic and administrative structures while revealing that more are under construction to expand capacity for new programmes.
“Specifically, the 350 capacity male and female hostels have also been completed, providing comfortable accomodations for the students, the computing and informatic building has also been completed reinforcing our drives towards a technology oriented learning environment.
“Work is on going on the Senate Building, the Library building, the Basic Medicine and Health building, the Engineering complex, all of which began in 2022 by my predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello” . These projects he said, have continued to receive substantial funding from his administration.
“One of the our proudest moments as a government, was the successful accreditation of the MBBS programme in the institution” pointing out that the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital, Okene was designed and built to serve the purpose.
The Governor stated that his administration has completed the perimeter fencing, defining the identity of the institution and ensuring the safety of the students and the staff.
This is in addition to the installation of surveillance cameras and world class security gadgets across the institution, supported by trained personnel to guarantee that every student can learn in peace and confidence.
While commending the immediate past Governor Bello for establishing the university, he assured that his administration remained committed to sustaining the safe and conducive environment for learning across all the tertiary institutions in the state.
He also used the occasion to commend the National University Commission (NUC), for their guidance and support through timely accreditation and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, for their collaboration in ensuring the rapid infrastrural development of the institution.
Speaking earlier, the Chancellor of the University, HRH. Barr. Anthony Ehizojie Abumere 11, the Onojie of Uromi, had thanked the Kogi State Government for finding him worthy of the appointment ; just as he promised to make positive contributions that would enhance growth and development of the institution.
He urged the graduating students to continue to be good ambassador of the institution advising that they apply the knowledge and skills acquired to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and represent the institution well in their future endeavors.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulrahman Salau, deslosed that there were about 56 already approved programmes across the 44 departments with eight faculties.
The Vice Chancellor further added that the pioneer students completed programmes in the sciences, computing, and informatics, while the second set benefited from improved structure and academic consolidation.
Speaking on behalf of the over all best graduating students, Omachonu Shedrack commended the institution for providing the enabling environment which he said significantly impacted them positively in skills and knowledge.
He assured the institution of her commitment to continue to be good ambassadors of the institution.
