Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has received the prestigious 2024 Governor of the Year Award in Agriculture, courtesy of Independent Newspapers Limited.

This esteemed recognition is a testament to his administration’s remarkable progress in boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring food security in the state.

The award ceremony took place in Abuja, where the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, accepted the honor on behalf of Governor Ododo.

This achievement underscores the Governor’s commitment to transforming Kogi State’s agricultural sector and improving the lives of its citizens.

He said, “this marks Governor Ododo’s third major award by media organisations this year alone, underscoring his commitment to food security, sustainable agricultural practices, women and youth inclusion in governance in Kogi State.

“The award by the management of Daily Independent Newspapers, reaffirms Governor Ododo’s policies aimed at empowering farmers through provision of mechanised farming, encouraging youth and women’s participation in agriculture and improving the agricultural value chain in the state.

“Interventions by Governor Ododo in agriculture and food security, have not only boosted food production in the state but has also positioned Kogi as a key contributor to Nigeria’s agricultural sector revolution under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he concluded.

Governor Ododo’s impressive track record of accolades continues to grow, having previously received the Political Personality of the Year Award from the Sun Newspaper, as well as the Governor of the Year and Youth-Friendly Governor Award from the Daily Asset Newspaper and the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), respectively, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to youth empowerment.

Notably, Governor Ododo’s initiatives align seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to reposition Nigeria as a prime global investment destination, focusing on core pillars such as democracy, development, demographics, and diaspora engagement.

By reinforcing Kogi’s role in strengthening national food security and promoting an all-inclusive approach to development, Governor Ododo’s efforts are helping to drive progress in the state and beyond.
