Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved a ₦7 billion to revamp 88 healthcare centers across Kogi state.
This move aims to enhance the quality of healthcare services, making them more accessible and affordable for the people of Kogi State.
The Governor made this known at the Model Primary Healthcare Center in Felele Lokoja, the state capital, where he officially handed over sites to contractors for the renovation of additional 88 primary healthcare centers across the state.
The project, which is supported by the World Bank, will upgrade over 150 primary healthcare institutions to functional Level-2 health facilities.
This is part of the state government’s strategic plan to improve access to quality healthcare services in all parts of the state.
Governor Ododo, who was represented by Commissioner for health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams, emphasised the importance of upgrading healthcare facilities, stressing that this initiative is a vital step towards ensuring that residents have access to quality medical services.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to ensure Nigerians have access to top-notch healthcare services.
The project is expected to create employment opportunities for the people of Kogi State, contributing to the state’s economic growth and development.
The contractors handling the project have assured that they will deliver a top-notch project on schedule, meeting the Governor’s vision for the project.
Governor Ododo also expressed his gratitude to his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, for his remarkable accomplishments in the health sector, which has significantly improved healthcare services in Kogi State.
He assured the people of Kogi that his administration will build upon Bello’s legacies, consolidating his achievements to further benefit Kogians.
Dr. Adams, who emphasised the importance of timely completion and quality delivery, urged contractors handling the projects to work efficiently. He also assured that his office will closely supervise the projects to ensure the state gets value for its money.
Mrs. Dorcas Eneye, the Permanent Secretary of Kogi State’s Ministry of Health, commended Governor Ododo for his groundbreaking transformation of the state’s health sector. According to her, the ongoing project will have a profound impact on the lives of Kogi State residents, revolutionizing their access to quality healthcare services.
The Director of Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Muazu Musa Omeiza, praised Governor Ododo for revolutionizing the state’s health sector. He appealed to the community to support the contractors, ensuring the project’s successful completion and ultimately benefiting the residents.
Mr. Stephen Isah, the Head of the contractors, who praised the Governor for the project, promised that his company will take all necessary steps to deliver a top-notch project on schedule.
