– Donates to candidates ahead of LGA Elections

From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

As part of efforts to boost the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Local Government Area (LGA) elections in Kwara state, Alhaji Ibrahim Ajia, a former gubernatorial aspirant in the 2019 elections and the PDP candidate for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, has made financial contribution to the party’s state executive committee.

The funds are set to be distributed to all PDP candidates, from chairmanship to councillorship positions, across the 16 LGAs in Kwara State.

Speaking through a statement released by his Director of Communications, Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, Alhaji Ajia, urged the State Working Committee and supporters of the party to stay confident and intensify their efforts to secure victory.

“It is evident that we have the numbers and supporters at the grassroots. What we lacked was the commitment and sacrifice needed on election day, which was easily the reason we lost in the two previous elections,” Ajia said. He expressed optimism that with renewed dedication, the party would triumph in the upcoming polls.

The funds, which have been transferred to the state Chairman’s account, are set to be distributed to chairmanship candidates in all 16 local government areas, who will in turn distribute the funds to the 193 councillorship candidates contesting in the election.

Ajia further encouraged party members to comply with the electoral laws and to ensure proper documentation of events before, during, and after the elections.

“I wish the party and all our candidates success in the elections. I also extend my best regards to the party leadership and supporters,” the statement concluded.
