A fire outbreak at No. 38, Oluwalogbon Street, Ijoro Area of Asa-Dam, Ilorin, was recently contained by men of the Kwara State Fire Service.
The fire, suspected to have been caused by faulty solar wiring, started in one of the rooms of a residential building comprising three-bedroom flats.
It was gathered that firefighters arrived at the scene at 4:14 p.m. following a distress call and swiftly deployed their equipment to contain the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the building.
Preliminary investigation by the Fire Service indicated that a spark from the solar wiring ignited combustible materials in the affected room.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Fire Service, PFO Hassan Adekunle, said the incident highlights the need for proper installation and maintenance of solar and electrical systems.
The Chief Fire Officer, CFS Alabi Muhammed, commended the firefighters for their prompt response and urged residents to always engage qualified professionals for electrical and solar installations.
He also advised property owners to promptly repair faulty or damaged wiring to prevent avoidable fire outbreaks.
