Diocese of Lokoja Anglican Communion celebrates 30th Anniversary

It was an expression of gratitude and celebration as the Diocese of Lokoja Anglican Communion, marked its 30th anniversary in a colourful way.

The 30th anniversary celebration with the theme: “Celebrating God’s Goodness”, was a mile stone in the annals of anniversary celebrations as it brought to the fore, faith and unity among the Anglican members.

The occasion also brought together members of the Anglican church from far and near along with other Christian faithful and well wishers.

The nine-day anniversary celebration started from Saturday October 12th down to Sunday October 20th.

The first day (October 12) featured a Jesus Carnival for all tribes celebrated along with the children’s carnival at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity Lokoja,

The second day(October 13) was for the Intercession Sunday for the Diocese in all churches of the Diocese while Monday October 14 was set aside for the Anniversary Family Interaction at Emmanuel Anglican Church lokoja.

Other activities held during the celebrations include the Choir Competition held on the fourth day at the Emmanuel Anglican Church lokoja, while between October 16 and 17, members of the Anglican family converged on Emmanuel Anglican church, Lokoja for a two-day Revival service that featured Rev. John Elegun, a guest cleric from Ilorin.

Friday October 18th was a Holy Communion Service with the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev’d Emmanuel Egbunu, PhD presiding over the ceremony at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity Lokoja.

A Dinner and Award’s Night was held Saturday October 19 at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Lokoja where prominent people from the Diocese where honoured with awards for their great contributions towards the growth of the Diocese.

The anniversary celebration came to and end on Sunday October 20th with a Thanks Giving Service by all perishional churches at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity Lokoja. Indeed, it was a nine-day celebration filled with joy, praises and gratitude to God.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the dedicated and inauguration of a Vocational Skill Acquisition Center by the Diocese as a mission outreach for the teaming youth’s and teenagers of the Diocese.

The Bishop of the Diocese, His Grace, Most Rev’d Emmanuel Egbunu PhD, a remark during the celebrations, expressed gratitude to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, who sent a representative and those who took out there time off their busy schedules to attend, pray and support the Diocese as it marked three decades of God’s faithfulness and grace.
