From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Nigerians have been urged to consistently offer praises to God, regardless of the numerous challenges confronting the nation.

This message was delivered by Reverend Cornelius Fawenu, former Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State chapter, during his sermon at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) Youth Wing in Ilorin.

Speaking at the event, themed “Living a Life of Praise,” held at the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Ilorin District Headquarters, Reverend Fawenu, emphasised the importance of remaining positive and committed to praising God.

“Man must always think positively to be able to praise God,” he noted, adding that praising God is a vital act of faith that requires obedience to His commandments.

Pastor Moses Ademola Popoola, Chairman of the OAIC Kwara State Chapter and Vice Chairman of CAN, also addressed the congregation, reflecting on past hardships like famine.

He encouraged the youth to deepen their relationship with God, remain diligent, and not shy away from agriculture.

“God alone owns the solution to all challenges being faced in the country,” Pastor Popoola remarked, urging Nigerians to place their trust in divine power over political solutions.

The clerics called on the faithful to remain steadfast in prayer as the nation navigates its current difficulties, reminding them of the power of faith and dedication to God’s work.

Pastor Gbolahan Oyedunmola, the OAIC State Youth Director, also charged the youth to live by godly principles and contribute actively to the growth of the church.

He commended those who had contributed to the development of OAIC since its founding in 2004, and presented awards to distinguished members for their service and dedication.

The anniversary celebration concluded with prayers and recognition of notable individuals who had served the OAIC Youth Wing over the years
