In line with the tradition of most Christian churches to celebrate their annual end of year Thanksgiving Service, the Christian Worship Center, Peace community, Lokoja rolled out it’s drums recently in appreciation to God for the year 2024.
The service was graced by members of the church and other invited guests. It was a colourful occasion that saw the congregation beautifully dressed in their cultural attires as they expressed gratitude to God for how far He had led them from the beginning of the year till the last month.
It was a moment of reflection and reminiscing for the congregation. Various members of the church were opportune to give testimonies and they testified on various issues they saw God come through for them especially as regards God’s goodness upon their lives.
The preacher, Brother Savior who spoke on the Topic “ Plug Into The Vision of God”, said “when a person gets disconnected from where God has placed them, their life alignment becomes displaced, and when this displacement occurs, the heart of thanks giving would be missing”
He read from the book of Genesis chapter 2 verse 9 and chapter 3 vs 9 that make reference to how Adam and Eve lost their place in the garden because they disobeyed God’s command as well as lost the vision God had placed for them.
The church also dedicated its new altar and pulpit. This was presided over by the Senior Pastor of the commission, Apostle Matthew God’spower, whose sermon was centered around the book of 1st king 8:22-26.
He gave thanks to God for the provision of the new pulpit and altar and also anointed, prayed and dedicated them to God Almighty. The Dedication Service was closely followed by the Thanksgiving ceremony.
The thanksgiving proper was handled by Pastor Moses Idoko, who called out families of the assembly one after the other. They took turns to dance from behind the church to the altar to present their thanksgiving offerings and testimonies. The Choir spiced up the session with beautiful choruses that got the entire congregation dancing.
The Senior Pastor, Apostle Matthew God’spower, in the end, admonished the congregation never to take the place of gratitude for granted, stressing that every act of service done for God comes with a reward.
Regardless of the economic situation in the county, Christians were charged by the cleric to be steadfast and keep trusting God for provision. He then went ahead to make declarations for the congregation from the book of Isaiah 61 vs 1-5.
