The Kogi State Government has approved the appointment of Chief Joseph Abdul Abuh and 17 others as the newly appointed 2nd Class Traditional Rulers to serve in their various Chiefdom of Kogi State.
Chief Joseph Abuh, who was born on the 3rd of May, 1962 is to replace the former Odu Ogidiga, Late Chief Michael Wada Idoko in Emodu, Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State who passed away about a year ago.
According to a statement issued and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Eniola Enimola, on behalf of the Commissioner, said the appointment is with immediate effect.
Other appointees are, Mallam Haliru Aminu Akwu, who becomes Etsu Elaite, and retired Major General Erema Akerejola, appointed Ubuoro of Ogori land.
The rest are: Idris Ali Yusuf-Onu Itama; Usman Akowe Omonu,- Onu Ayah; Abdul Opaluwa – Omachi Iyogbo; Ali Abba as Abagbo-Inna Akpanya; and Umoru Zakari, -Odoma Ata Igala.
Also appointed are Umoru Usman Atabo Ijomi,- Ekpa Ata Igala, and Yusuf Momoh Adama,- Anaja of Gbobe.
The government equally announced the appointment of Alikali Suleiman as a Third Class Chief, alongside Taru Onyionwa, -Idu Eyire Clan; Salami Abdulrasaq, -Olu-Ere, Ife-Olukotun; Zakari Alhassan, -Ondaki of Ohikwo, Isiaka Ukele -Ogohi Acharu; and Abuh Adukwu, -Owo Onu-Ife.
Other Third Class appointees include Alhaji Gida, -Ohinoyi of Kekere; Sule Yabubu, -Ohinoyi of Edekakpo; and Nigeria Okpanachi, Egena -Eje of Olamaboro.
The said positions are to fill all the vacant stools across the Chiefdom in the state.
Enimola further said that, the appointments followed the due process and were made to replace traditional rulers who had passed away.
It equally revealed that the new appointees were selected based on their perceived qualities of tact, integrity, maturity and patriotism, which it said were necessary for the effective discharge of their traditional responsibilities.
