Elders of the Chamba Chiefdom in Adamawa State, have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to urgently direct the release of the appointment letter of Dr. Abdulrazak Namdas, as Managing Director of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).
The elders, under the umbrella of the Chamba Elders Council, made the appeal during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre in Yola on Tuesday.

According to the group, the appointment of Dr. Namdas was announced on June 16, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communication, Mr. Bayo Onanuga. However, nearly two months later, the official appointment letter is yet to be issued.
Presenting the position of the council, Alhaji Garba Laweso, said the appointment was a significant recognition of the Chamba people, noting that it was the first time in many years that a son of the community was nominated for such a strategic federal position.
The Chamba Chiefdom comprises five local government areas in Adamawa State: Ganye, Toungo, Jada, Mayo Belwa and Fufore.
The elders also appealed to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, to intervene, and urged the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, to facilitate the issuance of the appointment letter without further delay.
While commending President Tinubu for the nomination and acknowledging Vice President Shettima’s support for the community, the council said Dr. Namdas is eminently qualified for the BCDA job.
They noted that as someone who hails from a border community and host to the Gashaka-Gumti National Park, described as one of the largest national parks in the country, Namdas understands the challenges of border areas.
The elders further highlighted his antecedents, including two terms in the House of Representatives, where he chaired the Committees on Media and Public Affairs and on Army. He also served on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), representing the North-East Zone.
The group expressed confidence that Dr. Namdas would bring his experience, commitment and public engagement to bear in repositioning the BCDA for better service delivery to border communities.
