Brigadier General Amechi Agwu, takes over the Nigeria Army headquarters 23 Brigade, Yola, Adamawa state.
General Agwu takes over from Brigadier General Paul Zawaya, who hands over the affairs of 23 Brigade from where he stops.
The ceremony has top military traditions accompanied with signing of handing and taking over notes, address to troops and the ceremonial lowering and hoisting of the Brigade flag, a long standing ritual symbolising the transfer of authority.
In his farewell remarks, the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General Paul Zawaya, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the officers, soldiers and civilian staff for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He therefore, urged the Command to extend even greater cooperation to his successor and also commended the government and people of Adamawa State for their continuous support and partnership in promoting peace and security.
In his taking over note, Brigadier General Agwu pledged to sustain and build upon the accomplishments of his predecessor.
He emphasised his commitment to enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Brigade and ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens.
Agwu called on all personnel to maintain high levels of discipline and dedication, assuring residents of Adamawa State that the Brigade would remain resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property.
With the changes, the command underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to continuity, professionalism, and the strengthening of its operational leadership in pursuit of enduring peace in the North East sub-region.
The occasion was followed with the Army tradition of parades handing over notes.
