Bandits strike Patigi Communities, Police confirm abductions, casualties

Tension has gripped parts of Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, following coordinated bandit attacks on Motokun and Agboro communities on Tuesday.

The Police Command, confirmed that six residents of Motokun were abducted, while six others sustained gunshot injuries. Sadly, one of the victims, a woman, later died in hospital, while the rest are receiving treatment.

The attackers also stormed Agboro community, targeting a private company where a police officer was killed in the line of duty. Properties within the facility were vandalised during the assault.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, said tactical teams have been deployed in partnership with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to restore peace and rescue the abducted persons.

“We want to assure the people of Kwara State that we will not relent in our duty to protect lives and properties. Patrols and surveillance have been intensified in the affected areas,” he said.

Police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, extended condolences to families of victims and appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and to promptly report suspicious activities to security formations.
