The Ata Igala, HRM Matthew Opaluwa Oguche Akpa, has officially appointed Chief Simon Ochimana Atadogbanya, as Onu Egume and the District Head of Okura district.
He urged him to be a father figure to all and to foster unity among his people within his domain.
During a ceremony held at his palace in Idah, the Ata Igala encouraged the people of the Egume and Okura districts to remain steadfast and support their traditional ruler for a prosperous reign.
He called on Igala sons and daughters to remember their roots as a distinct group to attract development projects to the region.
HRM Matthew Akpa reiterated his commitment to improving Igalaland through exemplary leadership that is worthy of emulation, reminding the audience that leaders are ordained by God and appealed to those in positions of authority to lead with a sense of responsibility and fear of God.
In his speech, the new Onu Egume, HRH Simon Ochimana Atadogbanya, expressed his gratitude to the Ata Igala for the honour and called for collective service.
He promised to remain dedicated to the tasks ahead, embracing diverse viewpoints for a better Egume and Okura district where brotherly love supersedes individual interests.
The Onu Egume then appealed to the people of Egume and Okura districts to come together and create a welcoming environment for all and assured the Atta Igala that he would respect the traditional institution and work towards the transformation that will enhance the image of the two districts and Igalaland as a whole.
