Adamawa charges citizens on public health and environmental hazards

Adamawa state government has charged the citizens to take precautionery measures over the ongiog high risk of public health.

The State Ministry of Environment made the call to inform the general public that the current atmospheric condition being experienced is not ordinary harmattan, but a high level of air pollution which may pose risks to public health.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Ministry of Environment,  Adamawa state, said exposure to polluted air may lead to breathing difficulties and reduced lung function, Respiratory infections, irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat

The members of the public are therefore advised to take the following precautions by wearing nose masks, especially in dusty or crowded areas, limit outdoor activities where possible, drinking plenty and clean water, keep food and drinking water properly covered and wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption.

The public are warned to pay special attention to children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions.

The Ministry will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. The public is also urged to remain calm, vigilant, and to comply with these safety guidelines in order to protect their healths, the statement said.
