From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has praised the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Emeritus Professor Is-haq Oloyede, for his decisive and transparent handling of issues that affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Professor Jimoh, in a letter addressed to the JAMB Registrar, acknowledged the board’s prompt action in addressing the technical hitches that disrupted the examination in some centres.

He particularly commended Professor Oloyede for publicly apologising and taking full responsibility for the disruptions.

Describing the Registrar’s response as exemplary, Jimoh said the swift decision to allow affected candidates to retake the examination at no cost reflects integrity and true leadership.

“KWASU appreciates the sincerity and promptness with which JAMB addressed the matter and laid the facts bare to the concerned public,” he wrote. “This will allay the fears of parents and candidates and ensure the integrity of the examination body remains intact.”

Professor Jimoh further stated that the steps taken by JAMB have positioned the board as a model of responsibility and transparency in Nigeria’s education sector.

“You have written your name and that of JAMB in the annals of history as responsible institutions worthy of emulation by people and organisations. It is our prayer that Allah grants you the strength to continue to serve Nigeria and humanity,” he added.
